|Description||This is a 14 karat yellow gold Kentucky Derby trophy. There is a jockey and horse finial on top of the lid, and there are wreath-designed handles on the left and right sides. The body of the trophy is a cup that narrows as it moves downward to rest atop a circular node. The node is attached to a circular base. The trophy is inscribed: "NINETY FIFTY / KENTUCKY DERBY / $125,000.00 ADDED / 1 1/4 MILES / CHURCHILL DOWNS / LOUISVILLE MAY 3, 1969 / WON BY / MAJESTIC PRINCE / OWNER / FRANK McMAHON / BREEDER / LESLIE COMBS II". The underside is inscribed as follows: "Mark J. Scearce / Shelbyville / Kentucky". Also on the underside is an eagle hallmark above the initials "RMN" (which stand for Richard Milhous Nixon) and the inscription "14K". The trophy sits atop a marble base.|
