Description This item is the sterling silver cup that was awarded to Bill Shoemaker after he won the 1963 American Derby aboard Candy Spots. Around the top of the cup is the inscription "American Derby of 1963 - Washington Park". On the bottom there is the inscription "SHREVE & CO/STERLING". The trophy has a wooden base it can sit on. On top of the base is a sticker with "Amer/Derby" written on it. The wood base has a metal plaque attached with the inscription "Won By CANDY SPOTS/Owner...Rex C. Ellsworth/Trainer...Meshach A. Tenney/Jockey...William Shoemaker/Gross Value $110,833-To Winner $65,833/(Run at Arlington Park)".
